St. Fabian Book Club

In August 2009 the selected reading for the book club was Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen. We were invited to attend this meeting by Sharon Videtich and to lead a discussion comparing our experiences building John Paul School in Uganda with those Greg encountered building his schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Our experiences were strikingly similar with both of us encountering like problems and like successes. Everyone who attended became actively engaged in the talk and opened their hearts and their pocketbooks to support us. This opportunity to raise awareness of the school led to a donation of all the chemicals, equipment and furniture necessary to outfit a complete Science Center, which we hope to complete in 2010.
